Hampton Court, 2 April, 2005

Hampton Court Palace is in Greater London, upstream on Thames, easily accessible from the city by train. Originally it was built for cardinal Wosely around 1514, but later Henry VIII dismissed the cardinal and took over the palace. The royal family moved from here in the 18th century. Apparenly only for the profit of the souvenir shop it is forbidden to take photos inside, but unintentionally I used my camera a few times.

The Great Vine
On of the attractions of Hampton Court is the biggest grape vine of the world. It was planted in 1769, the circumference of its trunk is 4 meter, the longest branch is 120 meter long. It yields 272 kilogramm grape a year.
